Bouquet Blanket-Rose

This blanket is divided into the main part, basic edging, leaves, and rose flowers. Crochet the main part first, then the edging and leaves, followed by crocheting the rose flowers. 

Materials:   4-Ply Combed Cotton & Acrylic Fibre Hand Knitting Yarn

or 5-Ply Combed Cotton & Acrylic Fibre Hand Knitting Yarn

Note:
This pattern is making in Chinese crochet pattern terms, and the stitch name is written using American terminology. All measurements in charts are in cm. 

Part 1  The Main Part

(the general pattern for all different Bouquet Blanket)

R1: MR, 12F
R2: (FV, CH)×12
R3: (F, FV, CH)×12
R4: (F, FV, F, CH)×12
R5: (3F, FV, CH)×12
R6: (2F, FV, 2F, CH)×12
R7: (5F, FV, CH)×12

Note: 
1, The main part consists of 12 pattern repeats per round, with each repeat increasing by 1 st; each round has 12 more sts than the previous one.
2, On odd-numbered rows, increase in the last stitch of each repeat; on even-numbered rows, increase in the middle stitch of each repeat. Staggering the increases in this way ensures that the openwork aligns in a straight line. Follow this pattern consistently to complete the main part of the blanket.

The sample description:
5-Ply Cotton version: 
      The small blanket is worked in 33 rounds, resulting in a diameter of approximately 70 cm and featuring 51 roses;
      The large blanket requires 47 rounds, yielding a diameter of approximately 110 cm and including 72 roses.
4-Ply Cotton version: 
      The small blanket is worked in 35 rounds, resulting in a diameter of approximately 70 cm and featuring 54 roses;
      The large blanket requires 51 rounds, yielding a diameter of approximately 100 cm and including 78 roses.

Note: Since crocheters may have different tensions, there could be slight variations in the blanket size, the number of rounds, and the rose count. The crochet technique stays consistent, so adjustments can be made based on your specific outcome.

Part 2 Basic edging and Leaves

Work with green color yarn. 

Step 1 Basic edging

R1: join yarn in any st of the last round of the main part, then work a beginning chain and work: (X, 2CH, K2), K2 means skip 2 sts, repeat this group until completing the whole round, finish the last 2 chains, join with the first single crochet with a slip stitch.

R2: work single crochet for the whole round (work 1 single crochet in each single crochet stitch, and 2 single crochets in each chain space).

Step 2 Leaves

 (This section is best understood when combined with video instruction.)

Step 1: After completing the Basic edging, chain 3 at the slip stitch join.

Step 2: Below the slip stitch join, locate the corresponding double crochet from main part last round, and count 2 sts to the left. Work 1 single crochet in the space between the 2nd and 3rd sts.

Step 3: Turn the fabric, work on the 3 chains space as following sts: 1 single crochet, 1 half double crochet, 3 double crochets, 1 half double crochet, and 1 single crochet.

Step 4: Turn the fabric so that the small leaf you just created is on the left side of the hook. From the last single crochet, chain 3, In the same double crochet row as Step 2, count 4 sts to the right and work 1 single crochet in the space between the 4th and 5th sts.

Step 5: Return to the 3 chains and work the following sts: 1 single crochet, 1 half double crochet, 3 double crochets, 1 half double crochet, and 1 single crochet. This completes one pair of leaves.

Step 6: From the slip stitch join in Step 1, work 8 single crochets to the left. Then work 3 chain stitches. Starting from here, repeat the leaf pattern described above, continuing around the entire piece.

Part 3 Rose flowers

Work with red color yarn.

There are two different crochet methods. Due to yarn quantity considerations, the 5-Ply Cotton version of the blanket can only use Method 1. The 4-Ply Cotton version of the blanket can choose either Method 1 or Method 2.

Mrthod 1:

Join in yarn at the gap between the leaves, start with 14 chains.
From the 3rd chain from the hook, work 3 double crochets into each stitch, moving backward. After completing the 3 double crochets in the last stitch, work 3 additional chains, and then slip stitch back into the same stitch to secure. 
Once completed, roll the fabric into a flower shape. Insert the crochet hook horizontally through the flower and slip stitch to secure it in place. Fasten off the yarn, tie the starting and ending yarn tails together, and weave in the ends to finish.

Mrthod 2:

Join in yarn at the gap between the leaves, start with 17 chains.
Row 1: Starting from the 3rd chain from the hook, work 3 double crochets, chain 1, skip 1 st, work 3 double crochets into the 5th chain from the hook, followed by 1 chain. Repeat this pattern until all stitches are completed. 
Row 2: Chain 2, turn the fabric, work 1 double crochet in the first double crochet st, work 2 double crochets in the second st, work 1 double crochet in the third st, chain 2, slip stitch into chain space, chain 2, repeat as 1 double crochet, 2 double crochet into the same st, and 1 double stitch, chain 2 and slip into chain space, repeat this method until the end. 
After completing the final 2 chains, slip stitch into the corresponding double crochet from Row 1. Fasten off, leaving a tail. Roll the piece into a flower shape, secure it with the yarn tails, and weave in the ends to finish.
