Lucky Animal Brooches

There are four designs in total: Skyward Bull, Peaceful Elephant, Auspicious Star, and Abundant Treasures. The first three designs come in symmetrical pairs. Each brooch consists of two parts: the main piece and the decorations. First, we'll crochet the main part. Then, attach the decorations by sewing them on.

The handcrafted measurements may have an error of 1 to 2 cm. Due to variations in individual tension, the size of the sample is for reference only.
Material: Susan's Family Fancy Dyed Lace

Hook: 1.50 mm crochet hook

Note: This pattern is making in Chinese crochet pattern terms, and the stitch name is written using American terminology. All measurements in charts are in cm. 

Note: The starting position of the segment-dyed yarn affects the finished effect. You can choose the starting thread based on your preference.

Part 1 Main pieceA​

Step 1 Skyward BullA1​ 00' 43'' ​(Part 1) 

Start with a foundation chain, begin by crocheting the bull's legs. Work along the chains in rows. Finish by crocheting the horns. Please refer to the video demonstration for more details.

Step 2 Peaceful ElephantA2​ 22' 45'' ​(Part 1) 

Start with a foundation chains, begin by crocheting one elephant leg. Then, start another leg with a chain. After both legs are done, work back and forth above them. Please refer to the video demonstration for more details.

Step 3 Auspicious StarA3​ 40' 56'' ​(Part 1) 

The main body also starts with a foundation chain. Work back and forth in rows. Begin by crocheting Area 1. After done, cut the yarn. Then, attach the yarn to crochet Area 2. After completing Area 2, join the yarn to make the comb and the beak. Please refer to the video demonstration for more details.

Step 4 Abundant TreasuresA4​ 58' 23'' ​(Part 1) 

Start with the foundation chains. Work along the chains in rows. Please refer to the video demonstration for more details.

Part 2 DecorationB​ 00' 11'' ​(Part 2) 

The decoration divided into the decorative strands, the accessories, the beads, the litchi rind and a brooch clasp. Among them, the 'Skyward Bull'B1​ doesn't require crocheted accessories. After embroidering the decorative strand, attach the other decorations. Start by embroidering the edge decorative line. Peaceful ElephantB2​ , Auspicious StarB3​ , Abundant TreasuresB4​ need to crochet accessories. Please refer to the video demonstration for more details.
